With the ongoing protests over ‘pie tax’ at Elland Road and Hull looking to regain the lead of the promotion race, Read Championship’s Game of the Week for this gameweek is Leeds United vs Hull City.

The Lily White’s faithful are planning to walk out in the 17th minute of the match following a controversial decision about the new prices of adult tickets, which now include a ‘meal deal’. Will the players be able to cope without their support?

Team news

As well as their fans being absent for the majority of the match, Leeds will also be without defender Gaetano Berardi, who is serving the second of a two-match ban. Steve Evans could face further problems with his backline as club captain Sol Bamba, who has missed the last two games through injury, faces a late fitness test.

Hull quintuplet Allan McGregor, Tom Huddlestone, Shaun Maloney, Mohamed Diame and Sam Clucas could all regain their places in the team, after being strangely rested for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup quarter-final against Premier League favourites Manchester City. Top goalscorer Abel Hernandez remains on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, but long-term absentee Robert Snodgrass is fit to face his old club.

Form

Leeds have won just one of their last nine games in all competitions and have failed to win at home in their last four attempts. Goalscoring has also been an issue for the former First Division champions, who have managed a menial six goals in their previous 10 outings.

Prior to the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City and their loss to promotion rivals Derby County, Hull were on an unbeaten run stretching to 13 matches in all competitions. Can they put their last two results behind them and conquer the West Yorkshire club?
