Cardiff City may have to venture into the transfer market this January after a double injury blow looks like leaving them short in defence.
Both Sean Morrison and Ben Turner look set to be out for a number of weeks/months with recent injuries they’ve sustained.
Sean Morrison has been a key part of Russell Slade’s team this season – forming an as-good-as-ever-present partnership with Matthew Connolly. He could be out for up to six weeks.
Ben Turner is currently on loan at League One Coventry City, but Cardiff manager Russell Slade had been considering a recall to help over the festive period. He’s picked up another ankle injury.
Bruno Manga is, of course, an option to fill Morrison’s void but with no Ben Turner to return as cover, the Bluebirds are looking horribly short at the back.
Slade was keen on bringing in attacking options according to his assistant, Scott Young, but a defender may now have to become a priority as well. (Quotes via Wales Online)
It’s a difficult question to say what we now need in January. Before last Friday, we probably would not have needed a centre-half. There’s question marks going forward when we find out what we need in terms of the two lads getting injured.
Young has urged Manga to snatch his opportunity now, with these defenders absent, after admitting some of the players are becoming frustrated with their lack of game time.
Cardiff travel to Milton Keynes on Boxing Day to take on Karl Robinson’s side.
