Ramirez set for permanent stay
Middlesbrough has moved quickly to secure the services of talented midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to HITC.
The Uruguayan midfielder has spent the past season on loan at the Teeside club and manager Aitor Karanka is set to offer him a bumper deal to keep him at the club.
The Boro boss who shrugged off rumours he was leaving the club after a bust-up with his squad, is said to be a huge fan of the creative midfielder and hopes to keep him longer than his expiring loan spell at the club.
The 25-year old midfielder has been on loan from Southampton and has been an integral part of the recent promotion push that needed in Boro winning automatic promotion on the final day of the season.
The day wasn’t all celebrations, though, as Ramirez was the victim of a horror challenge by Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens, which resulted in him needing gas and air as he was stretchered off the pitch.
Still, after seven long years of trying to win promotion, Middlesbrough are once again a Premier League side and Ramirez has played a big part in their promotion.
The player will now have to decide whether to take up Boro’s offer or leave England, with Italian clubs including Inter Milan, Bologna and Sampdoria are all interested in the Uruguayans signature and he will have to make a decision within the next few weeks.
One thing is for certain is that he will not be returning to St Mary’s on his £70,000-a-week contract. The player looks set to take a downgrade in pay whether he stays at the Riverside or leaves for European football.
Whatever final decision Ramirez makes, the talented Uruguayan will always be remembered in Teeside for his fantastic displays this season in front of the Boro faithful as they saw their club promoted.
