Transfer Update: Robert Tesche
After spending the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City, we take a look at the latest as they seek to make the deal for Robert Tesche permanent.
Having signed for Nottingham Forest at the start of the 2014/15 season on a free transfer from Bundesliga side Hamburg, big things were expected from Robert Tesche. He enjoyed a good start to life at The City Ground, scoring two goals in twenty-two appearances, but his playing time became limited after the arrival of Dougie Freedman, who deemed him surplus to requirements.
He joined Birmingham City on March 2nd of this year on a loan deal until the end of the season. During his time at the club he became a firm fan’s favourite, with his dominating midfield performances and fighting spirit giving the fans something to cheer about.
The Birmingham Mail are reporting that a deal has been in place with the midfielder for several weeks, but Forest are now stalling in negotiations, with Dougie Freedman having used him in all three of the clubs pre-season friendlies, in which Tesche has started twice.
With a £500,000 transfer fee being discussed, Tesche would be one of Birmingham’s major signings for the summer considering the current financial restraints the club find themselves in, and patience could be wearing thin, with Birmingham manager Gary Rowett desperate to fill a major hole in his midfield before the season starts on Saturday 8th August.
If the deal were to collapse then potential replacements have been shortlisted in case the deal was to collapse, but City fans will be hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel.
